Crime and punishment. Because of the development of statistics and the methods of analysis you are learning about in this book, the 20th century has been called The First Measured Century in a series of documentaries on PBS. On the following page are two of their graphs.
a) Write a few sentences describing the homicide rate in the United States during the 20th century.
b) Write a few sentences describing the use of capital punishment in the United States.
c) Could these two graphs be used to support the argument that capital punishment serves as a deterrent? If yes, explain how the graphs demonstrate that support. If no, explain why not.
