Will the proliferation of shopping bots and recommendation

Discussion Post

Technology has the potential to make our lives easier by reducing the amount of clutter we need to work through on the Internet to access the information that really interests us.

However, perhaps intelligent agents that make recommendations based only on what we and others like us have chosen in the past (e.g., Netflix recommendations like - "because you watched Squid Games you might like X"; Amazon recommendations like "customers who bought this item also bought X", etc.) limit us, in that they reduce the chance that we will stumble upon something (e.g. a book on a topic we've never heard of or a music group that's different from the style we usually listen to) through serendipity.

Given the above context, for your discussion post 4, please share your opinion about the following (word limit: Total 2 paragraphs (to answer two questions) in total 300 words.

• Will the proliferation of "shopping bots" and "recommendation agents" make our lives too predictable by only giving us more of the same? Elaborate to explain your stand.

• If so, is this a problem? Elaborate to explain your stand.

The response should include a reference list. One-inch margins, Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space and APA style of writing and citations.
