There is a paragraph with the subheading “We face many serious environmental problems.” It reads “It’s important for you to be aware of current environmental conditions… With more than 7.1 billion humans currently, we’re adding about 80 million more to the world every year. While demographers report a transition to slower growth rates in most countries, present trends project a population between 8 and 10 billion by 2050 (fig 1.4). The impact of that many people on our natural resources and ecological systems is a serious concern.”
