Why play time in preschool-early elementary school diminish

I need to make a discussion post reply to my classmate, this is their response: Play Why does time for play between preschool years and the early elementary school years diminish? Play usually diminishes between preschool and early elementary school years due to the level of academic expectations, the elementary school is structured to have less time for play and, there is more seatwork. Funding also plays a part in less play in elementary school because the higher scores on assessments warrants a larger amount of funding received. Is this appropriate for children? What actions might you take to change this? This is not developmentally appropriate for young children. Incorporating play into the academic learning environment, that is developmentally appropriate can ensure a smooth transition to and eliminate undo stress on young children.
