Problem:
During the trauma narrative component, Angelina (the older child) revealed frequent exposure to drug use and violence. She also expressed guilt because she was playing with some of her parents' drug paraphernalia (i.e., pipes, bongs, etc.) several days before the fire and thought this may have started the fire. The TF-CBT therapist continued move forward with the narrative and processing component by: a) Encouraging Angelina to share her dreams of what occurred the night of the fire, and interpreting these dreams. b) Taking Angelina to the site of the house fire and doing In Vivo Mastery. c) Having Angelina and the foster parents create a joint narrative. d) Addressing Angelina's cognitive distortions about her responsibility for the fire when the narrative is completed.
