Principals can encourage student ownership of learning by implementing systems that allow students to actively monitor their academic performance, reflect on their progress, and establish meaningful learning goals. When students understand their strengths and areas for improvement, they become more engaged and motivated to achieve success (Fisher et al., 2018). The Coahoma County Rise Academy Alternative Learning Program provides an effective model for student self-monitoring through the Grade Results platform. The system tracks how much time students spend on each lesson and alerts instructors when they complete lessons unusually quickly or take an excessive amount of time, enabling immediate intervention. Each lesson includes instructional videos, interactive activities, discussion forums, vocabulary practice, posttests, and unit assessments, providing multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery. Students can review their scores and identify incorrect answers, encouraging reflection and self-assessment.
