Why bullying is still a big problem for many young people

Problem: Bullying is still a big problem for many young people. Boys are more likely to be bullied and usually physical in nature. Boys are more likely to push and punch. For girls, bullying more likely is verbal and psychological. Girls exclude others, spread rumors, call names and overall gossip. The emotional consequences can have lasting effects. Victims can have difficulty socializing and making friends. They can sometimes have difficulty building building trust. These thoughts can come from thinking the bully is more popular and others believe that person more as an example. Victims can also have anxiety issues and become avoidant in activities like school or extra curricular activity. Extreme cases can lead to depression or self harm or harm to others. Solutions lie in awareness. Bullying can be hard to detect. Bullies are sneaky and may strategically use certain locations to avoid detection or the things they do may be seen as not a big deal. An example may be just an uncomfortable look. It is important for the victims to talk to someone and that person treat it serious. For the victim it is serious and shouldn't be dismissed. The victims hopefully have one or two close friends they can talk to and an adult safe person that can encourage their talents and help them find good amongst the chaos. Positive response please.
