• Part 1: Explain some of the difficulties (3 - 4) of relying upon a public opinion poll as an accurate representation of American public opinion on critical policy issues. Why aren't public opinion polls 100% reliable and valid? Provide an explanation supported by 3 - 4 examples.
• Step 2: Explain 1 - 2 reasons why Americans' confidence and trust in democracy is declining. For Americans, do they believe their vote counts? Why or why not? Also, what role does misinformation or disinformation play in why Americans have declined trust in government? Explain 1 - 2 ways to combat misinformation and disinformation. How has the State of Illinois been a leader in data literacy efforts?
• Step 3: In your opinion; should government leaders pay more (or less) attention to public opinion on policy issues? Explain your assessment supported 1 - 2 examples.
