Who are the champions of the argument

Homework: Introduction to Ethics

Part A

Looking Ahead: Module 8 Homework information

Reflect upon a moral problem that exists in society: Moral Problems, of the Cahn (2016) text. This issue will form the core of your final Homework for this course. For instance, you might choose Immigration as a topic.

Review each of the moral problems in Part III, then select a single topic. If you decide not to choose one of the moral problems in Part III of the text, you may choose one that does not appear on the list. If you choose one that is not on the list, you must obtain your instructor's permission.

Write an essay addressing each of the following points. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. There should a minimum of four sections, one for each bullet below. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least two citations in your essay.

For the chosen or approved topic, please research "scholarly views" on your topic, in favor and not in favor of the topic. For immigration, an "in-favor" topic might be banning all immigrants and an "against" view might be allow any immigrant to come into your country; this is not just an issue for the United States.

1. Your paper must introduce the topic with its definition/background,
2. Introduce 2 to 3 reasons "from scholars" in favor and against the topic, and finally
3. Provide a summary of your findings, not an opinion on right or wrong yet, just the facts from opposing viewpoints, please.

Length: 1500 to 1750 words.

Part B

Write an essay addressing each of the following questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. There should be three sections, one for each bullet below. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Review the rubric criteria for this Homework.

You will reflect upon cultural relevance and answer the following questions:

1. What is cultural relevance?

2. What is the cultural relevance argument? Who are the champions of this argument?

3. Do you believe cultural relevance is completely useful, partially, or not useful at all as a theory of morality? Explain and provide examples.

As described below but very important to note here, you must use scholarly sources, not opinion to support your responses to the questions above. Introduce the topic, answer each question as the points in the body of your paper with citations, then write a summary that first summarizes the viewpoints researched and finally includes your conclusion, in your own words, on the topic of cultural relevance.

Length: 1500 words.
