Put yourself in the position of a journalist during World War I. Write a short article of at least three paragraphs explaining the conditions where you are for the people you are observing. Each paragraph must contain at least five sentences. Describe what you see, what you smell, what you hear, and what surrounds you.
Your article must include information that answers the following questions:
1) Where are you? Are you in the trenches, visiting in a hospital, or somewhere else?
2) Were the soldiers, medical personnel, and others you are observing volunteers, or were they conscripted? How do they feel about the process?
3) What might be unique about the experiences of the African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and women during the war? How are the experiences similar to those had by other Americans fighting or working abroad?
4) Which of the new technologies of WWI have you observed? Based on your observations, how are these technologies impacting the war in Europe?
