What type of country the young united states should become

Problem

In the 1790s and early 1800s, the two major parties were the Federalists and Democratic Republics, each with a distinctive view on what type of country the young United States should become.

By the early 1830s, these two basic views on the future of the Country were adopted with only some modifications by the Whigs and Democrats.

You need to write one brief letter to an imaginary friend explaining why he or she should support the party of your choice.

The key is to refer to specific examples from US history. Also keep in mind to try and maintain the world view of someone writing around the year 1830, not the Twenty-First Century. For example, and unfortunately, neither party took a strong position against slavery, so you can't choose one because they were more enlightened than the other in that respect. But you could argue one or the other would lead to an America based on a future of more free labor than enslaved labor. So be creative pretending you are living in the 1830s.
