Question: How to answer my classmate's discussion question? I feel that unintentional racism happens when people act on stereotypes without meaning to. Fremgen mentions that these biases can appear in everyday communication & decision making (Fremgen, 2024). I believe that I have self awareness in moments where I might speak more slowly to certain residents because I assume they won't understand me. However, that is unintentional, that assumption I have could make someone feel disrespected or overlooked. Bias like this can affect how comfortable residents feel asking for help.
