Problem 1: Given what you know about America in 1776, what do you think the Founding Fathers meant (in reality, and in actual application), when they wrote in the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal? Who was being left out of this discussion?

Problem 2: Why was demanding the right to vote considered to be "radical"-even among women-in the mid-nineteenth century? What was the purpose of pushing back against the electoral enfranchisement (the ability to vote) of over half of the population? How did it benefit men to keep them out?

Problem 3: What were the similarities and dissimilarities between the conditions of enslaved African Americans and women in general? Explain.
