What if you were a probation officer recommending a sentence to the presiding judge of a case in which a young, single mom of three small children was convicted of credit card fraud in excess of $10,000, which, under your state law, would qualify her for a term of up to 2 years in prison or 5 years on probation. What would your recommendation be, and why? Would you make the same recommendation for a single dad in a similar situation?
