What would you predict about the future of boot camps

Problem 1: In our text this week, we read that "military boot camps do not lead to individual changes in thinking, reasoning, and problem solving", and that there is "no evidence to indicate that they reduce prison overcrowding", which is one of the primary reasons they were implemented in the first place. Additionally, there appears to be "no evidence that boot camps significantly reduce recidivism".  (Schmalleger/Smykla, 2021)

What would you predict about the future of boot camps from information contained in our readings this week?

Problem 2: Often times administrators have to make difficult decisions regarding the budget.  This often results in the layoff of personnel. Considering that this is not an uncommon occurrence, if you were required to cut a position in a jail or prison, would it be your decision to cut a correctional officer, or a person involved in providing a rehabilitation program?  Why?
