Discussion Post: Virginia History
• Using internal improvements, Virginia attempted to connect the Tidewater with the western part of the state in the antebellum years. What were some of the improvements implemented to try to bridge the sectional gap? Why? How did geography impact early Virginia politics, from policies to parties?
• Discuss the development of slavery in the first two centuries of Virginia history, from its origins in the colony to its ultimate position in society at the time of the Revolution.
• Discuss the relations between the Indians and British settlers in the 1600s. How did they view each other, how did they treat each other, and what was the ultimate resolution between the two groups? Be sure to use examples to support your main points
