What they are likely being tested for

Problem

Is it acceptable that participants in a psychological experiment know what they are likely being tested for and as such risk them giving answers they 'think' they should say? E.g. testing for internalised anti-fat bias by getting them to choose between a slim person and an overweight person?

This is quite a vague question I know. I guess what I am asking if whether the aim of the study needs to be disguised?
