Problem
Since we have only read one tablet of The Epic of Gilgamesh and one book from The Iliad, this will, by necessity, be a cursory comparison, but what would you identify as the significant differences and similarities between Achilles and Gilgamesh? In the lecture, I assert that Achilles is more psychologically rich and complex. Do you agree? What do their differing characteristics tell us about the cultures for whom they are heroic figures?
