What should a believer source for such discernment be

Assignment task: Read Proverbs 4, with particular emphasis on verses 5-9:

5 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. 6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. 7 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. 8 Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. 9 She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor.

Much of the staffing function (and this course) deals with activities surrounding employment selection.  We know an organization's effectiveness and its ultimate success hinges on whether it can match capable individuals with well-designed jobs, while equipping them to succeed.  Organizations that perform these activities well develop a clear advantage over others.

Still, it's not all about skill and technique (such as the methods and assessments we study about in our course).  Veteran managers may not use the term wisdom specifically, but they would likely describe the need for some aspect of discernment in properly selecting employees.

What should a believer's source for such discernment be? How would believers apply what they learn from this passage of Proverbs to our role today?  How do we utilize a God-centered wisdom within secular organizations, especially pertaining to functions such as selection?
