What role does the public play in how you work

Problem

Communities are defined by a number of socio-economic dimensions which range from very fundamental/primitive forms to very modern advanced systems that influence the communities' values and activities they support. To some degree, this defines how a community will approach planning and the public interest in planning.

1) As a planner employed by a municipality, how might you consider these in your decision-making?

2) What role does the public play in how you work?

3) What responsibility do you have to this geographical community?

4) What might be the impacts of not acknowledging these dimensions?

5) Considering the planning theories discussed in this course, identify which might be most appropriate when also being tasked with considering socio-economic dimensions in your work.

In your response, be sure to identify three of these socioeconomic dimensions, providing an example of each and also provide a brief definition of the planning theory you apply.
