Ethics is not simply a matter of choosing between good and evil, but is about discovering which of several conflicting/competing values ought to be preserved. The ethical aspect of making business decisions focuses on the financial, moral, and other values involved in possible courses of action for resolving a problem.
Address the following:
1) If you overlay Melé's 8-step rational decision making process onto the Madoff case, what morally fatal missteps did Madoff make? In terms of Rest's four psychological elements, which element is missing in Madoff performed actions?
2) Is Madoff's failure one of bad judgment, bad planning, bad character, or several of these? Explain your position as fully as possible.
3) Using Melé's decision-making process in regards to Junseo's dilemma (pp 97ff), what would you propose he decide? Why propose that?
