Over the past few decades, technology has drastically influenced the ways we communicate, specifically through new forms of communication such as texts, email, video chat, and cell phones. Considering what you learned this week about linguistic anthropology, why would a linguistic anthropologist be interested in this topic? What kinds of relevant issues would they be interested in concerning the role of technology in human culture and language? If you were given a grant to conduct research relevant to this topic, how would you go about beginning your research? (For example, who would you want to be your informants? What would your overall research question be and why? How would you go about collecting data?)
