Problem

Johnson & Johnson's use of talc was fine more than ten years ago, but in today's technology, after a large number of researchers conducted a large number of experiments on talc, it was found to be carcinogenic. This is a problem in a macro market environment. With the development of technology, customers may find that the ingredients in some products are not so safe, so customers will appeal to others not to use them through social media networks. Because of the huge spread of social media, businesses can take advantage of the advertising spread that media can achieve, and now customers can also use social media to achieve a similar spread. Finally, after a barrage of lawsuits and public pressure, J&J will ditch talc and use cornstarch this year.

For J&J's competitors, this could be a good time to promote their products as talc-free and safe. Competitors can take advantage of this wave of spread to advertise their product to others and become a substitute for Johnson & Johnson in a short time.

As can be expected from J&J, with the development of science and technology, more and more such things will happen in the future. More and more commodity ingredients may be found to have harmful ingredients to human body, and then consumers will prosecute, and then businesses will pay compensation and change the formula. I think this will be a trend in the market based on the development of technology.
