Video Discussion Forum Instructions
Prior to submitting a post in the "Video Discussion Forum" download and read the assignment instructions thoroughly. Access the Watson Library online resources and view the video "Stages of Change for Addictions" written by John C. Norcross, Brief Therapy for Addictions. After viewing the video, log into the appropriate forum located in the Moodle classroom (Video Discussion Forum) and respond to each of the questions below:

1) Identify and discuss the stages of change and the characteristics of each of the stages, as discussed in the video.
2) What is the primary goal of the stages of change model?
3) Discuss some of the counseling techniques and/or methods that might be used in the different stages. Why are the techniques for each of the stages different? For example, discuss the decisional balance model (i.e. weighing the pros and cons of changing) and when this might be useful during counseling.
