Sam was employed a a office manager for a cleaning company for seven years. Today when Sam went to work he was informed by his boss that the boss' nephew was now the office manager and Sam has been demoted to head toilet cleaner. This new position has considerably less responsibility, much lower salary and substantially smellier working conditions. Sam was shocked by this change and when he appealed to his boss based on his long and successful work as the manager, his boss told Sam to take it or leave it. Sam refused, resigned and commenced a lawsuit against his former employer. What is Sam's cause of action? Explain your answer.
