The HMP pathway like glycolysis occurs in the cytosol of the cell. However, C02 which is not produced in glycolysis, is a characteristic product in HMP pathway. Further, in this pathway no ATP is generated, which you know, is the major product of glycolysis. Again oxidation uses NADP+ unlike NAD' in glycolysis.
