  • Write statements about what the company values in regard to sustainability.
  • What sort of commitment to sustainability does the organisation wish to make?
  • What does it value?
  • How would it like to be seen by stakeholders, what image would it like to convey?

2. Overview of current situation

  • Describe Kingfisher's (using the information provided in Assessment 1A: Report) current performance in key areas of waste management, energy and water consumption, emissions and procurement. You may also wish to comment on broader sustainability issues like social and financial sustainability.
  • Compile and analyze data to support your comments. Include supporting graphs, tables, etc.
  • Based on a review of the above, summarize the key areas for improvement.

3. Goals and targets for improvement

  • Based on your review of the current situation, design SMART goals for key activities such as waste, energy and water management.

4. Actions

  • What framework, standard and/or ecolabel(s) will you use to support this policy? For example, TBL, ISO standards, FairTrade, etc. Explain what you will use and why.
  • Address key policy initiatives in each of the following areas, as per the sub-headings 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4.

4.1 Waste management

  • How will you improve your waste management? What strategies will be put in place?
  • Include a list of the supporting policies and procedures that will need to be developed (this can be placed in the appendix).

4.2 Energy management

  • How will you improve your energy management? What strategies will be put in place?
  • Include a list of the supporting policies and procedures that will need to be developed (this can be placed in the appendix).

4.3 Water management

  • How will you improve your water management? What strategies will be put in place?
  • Include a list of the supporting policies and procedures that will need to be developed (this can be placed in the appendix).

4.4 Purchasing

  • How will you improve your purchasing decisions? What strategies will be put in place?

  • Note the specific training undertaken by roles and key areas in your training plan and how training is documented and updated. Include this on the responsibility matrix.

5.3 Communication with stakeholders

  • How is your policy communicated to stakeholders? Clearly note how this is achieved.
  • Identify any potential barriers to the successful communication of your policy and how you will address them.

6.1 Compliance

  • Note how the sustainability plan is reviewed and evaluated for compliance.
  • Explain the importance of continuous improvement and how this is achieved.

6.2 Monitoring

  • How will you monitor progress?
  • Include a data collection and monitoring plan (as a table, or include in the appendix).
  • Discuss how you will measure the success of your policy initiatives.

7. Review and evaluation

  • This is where you would analyze the data collected over a period of time and make recommendations for how you would improve your results.
  • Compile and analyze data to support your comments. Include supporting graphs, tables, etc.
