For this problem, I would like you to reflect on how race has shaped your family and your life. What has the role of race placed in your family life? Has race played a prominent role? Was race discussed in your family? How was it discussed? Were conversations about race focused on your race or others? When did you first start to think about your race or race within your family? If you don't think that race influenced your family life or conversations within your family, when did you first become aware of your racial identity? At what age/stage of development do you have your first memory of being aware of your racial-ethnic identity? Do you recall this as a positive experience in your identity development? And if it wasn't family that shaped this identity, what were the major influences?
