You are the Manager of Talent Acquisition for a large luxury hotel in Toronto, Ontario. The Director of Housekeeping approaches you very upset. According to him, it is taking too long to hire 10 part-time cleaning staff. You point out to him that you had identified 10 very capable and excellent candidates for the vacancies and then you remind him that he declined all 10 candidates because he insists on hiring only men for the role. He said it makes his life easier to hire only men. He also insists that anyone who works for his department undergo mandatory drug testing. As the Manager of Talent Acquisition who has a wealth of knowledge in HR Management, how would you handle this situation? What guidance would you give to this Director and why would you advise him this way?
