Problem: Environmental justice refers to the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people-regardless of race, income, or background-in the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws and policies. It ensures that no group bears a disproportionate share of negative environmental consequences, such as pollution or hazardous waste (Bullard, 2000). The correlation between environmental hazards and demographic characteristics highlights that low-income and minority communities are often more exposed to toxins, poor air quality, and unsafe living conditions (Taylor, 2014).
