Goal: assessment of the friendliness of a country's business environment based on personal and economic freedom data.
In groups of two a country followed by both the Economic Freedom of the World Index (EFW) and by the Personal Freedom Index (PF) must be chosen. Information about a country's level of economic freedom and personal freedom can be obtained from the website www.freetheworld.com Nonetheless, I am attaching a document titled "Towards a Worldwide Index of Human Freedom" which contains the information needed on personal freedom. Please refer to chapter 3.
I) Issues that you should address related to economic freedom.
a) What does the index attempt to measure?
b) Name the areas of the EFW index.
c) Evolution of the index starting with the earliest year and followed by the index level on years 2000, 2005 and 2011.
d) Establish factors that account for the change. That is, what determined the improvement or worsening of the index naming the areas and components responsible for the change?
