Physic "come of age" started in the 1920's bringing physicists closer to an alliance with industries government and the military. The profession becoming more sought after to give technological advancements in war such as aviation, weapons, and communication networking. In need of this profession, the US saw a double in physicists from 1920 to the 90s due to the interest in this field to keep up with the demands in industrial laboratories.
