Discussion Post: Change Management and Organizational Leadership- Logistics Outsourcing
• Considering the advice offered by John Kotter in the article titled "Leading Change: Why Transformation Efforts Fail," what do you think are some of the major potential obstacles to successful transition by the manufacturing firm to the use of a 3PL to manage and operate its distribution centers?
• Assume that you are the VP Supply Chain for the manufacturing firm and that you are personally responsible for the successful transition to the use of a 3PL. What are the leadership characteristics (people and/or structure) that will be directly related to the success or failure of this transition?
• For those students who may have had experience with a similar transition from insourcing to outsourcing (not necessarily related to logistics), what were the circumstances or strategies that had a significant impact on the success or failure of the transition?
