What are the differences between prejudice, discrimination and stereotype?
Prejudice;
This is generally referred to as being unfair, bias or opinions towards another person or group of people. Like stereotypes, prejudice involves unfounded negative opinions, attitudes or beliefs of others which invariably does not change.
Discrimination;
This is an act based on the way we behave or react to an individual or a group of people that is intentionally hurtful or harmful. Ultimately people are treated in a less favorable way simply because they are member of a particular group.
Stereotype;
It is the perception or beliefs one forms about an individual or a group of people based on previous assumptions or attitudes. An opinion is formed because of insufficient information on the individual or group which may or may not be reliable.
