What are the considerations and influences of the writer

Problem

Be writing a rhetorical analysis of a persuasive writing piece, such as a recently published editorial or column about a controversial issue. You will need to consider the rhetorical situation (i.e. subject, author, purpose, context, audience, and culture), along with the rhetorical strategies used to create the argument. Back up all your claims with evidence from the published editorial or Column about the controversial issue.

Consider these questions:

A. What is the topic and purpose of the piece? What does the author hope to achieve? Be sure to distinguish what the piece is about.
B. Who is the author, and what do you know about them? Is the author considered objective or does the author have a particular agenda?
C. Who is the audience? How does the audience impact the way the piece is written?
D. What are the considerations (e.g. time and place) and influences of the writer?
E. What techniques are used to make the points? Are these techniques successful, unsuccessful, or questionable?

Assess whether your chosen piece persuades its audience of the central claim and reasons by identifying the audience, argumentative purpose, and central argument, along with evaluating the overall rhetorical effectiveness of the piece. You must remain from a third person perspective
