Assignment task: The topic of aircraft accidents has unfortunately dominated the media headlines at numerous moments over the past couple of years, ranging from malicious attacks, such as the 9/11 attacks to the July 6, 2013, Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crashed at San Francisco International Airport, killing three. To still somewhat unresolved incidents, in particular the missing Malaysia MH370 flight that disappeared in the ocean in March 2014.
As we would expect, the investigations that results are often demanding, time-consuming and costly, requiring the expertise from a variety of fields and often collaboration between countries in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization guidelines. The investigation of any incident scene, whether criminal, accidental, or natural, will be accompanied by its own set of difficulties and problems. The forensic investigation of a plane crash is certainly no exception.
The news of an incident involving an aircraft normally comes from air traffic control, when they lose communication with an aircraft, usually when that aircraft has made a distress call. The precise location of the accident site may not be instantly known. Please name and explain the roles of teams assigned to begin the investigation, what are resources, experts and methods that are used to conduct the investigation.
