Homework: General Education Learning Outcome (GELO) Annotated Bibliography

An exercise designed to have students begin working on the GELO homework by submitting an annotated version of the GELO bibliography for comments. According to the The Purdue OWL website "A bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals . . . periodicals, etc.) one has used for researching a topic. Bibliographies are sometimes called "references" or "works cited" depending on the style format you are using. [You should use the Chicago or Turabian styled format for your project.] A bibliography usually only includes the bibliographic information (i.e., the author, title, publisher, etc.)." An annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources. Your annotations should summarize each of your scholarly sources. They should be relevant to your topic.

Topic-

Explain similarities and differences between the United States and one of the following countries:

• Britain
• Germany
• Russia
• Egypt
• Ghana
• China
• Iraq
• Mexico

For your annotated bibliography, answer the following questions -"Who is the author? What are the author's credentials? Is the source credible? Is it scholarly? What characteristics make the source credible/scholarly? What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? How will you use it in your paper?" The length of your annotations should be one paragraph for each of your sources for a total of at least three sources. A paragraph should be 5-8 sentences long. Your paragraph should paraphrase or summarize your sources in your own words. (Do not copy and paste phrases, sentences, or whole paragraphs from sources or other papers.)

Format your homework according to the give formatting requirements:

a. The answer must be double spaced, typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

b. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the course title, the student's name, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.

c. Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
