What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in separate ethnic communities? On the one hand it can promote a form of segregation. On the other hand people of the same language, ethnicity and culture find a great deal of comfort in community. The United States does not have a constitutionally mandated "official language". With so many non-English speaking immigrants, should English become our official language.
