Protecting our employees is our number one priority. In an emergency evacuation in our facility, everyone must respond immediately and by our approved evacuation procedures.
These are specific steps to be followed before, during, and after an evacuation:
1. Develop a comprehensive evacuation drill
2. Plan and map evacuation routes and exits
3. Employees must be familiar with the evacuation route and exits
4. When the evacuation alarm and strobe lights are active, employees need to evacuate the building
5. Employees shall proceed to designated evacuation areas.
6. All employees must remain in evacuation areas and follow instructions from the supervisor, evacuation wardens, or emergency response personnel.
7. Accountability is essential and most important to make sure we have every employee out of the building.
8. Supervisors must communicate with facility stakeholders (security, fire department, police, etc.) (Johnson, 2017)
