Problem:
The proposed project will review qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research published over the last five years to identify evidence-based programs that have proven beneficial for the successful reentry of incarcerated women. The review will also identify research specific to women and gender-responsive approaches to better understand the needs of incarcerated women. The purpose is to develop a program from the onset of incarceration that evolves over the course of imprisonment to create a foundation for successful reentry. The review will also look at successful reentry programs that have reduced recidivism. Additionally, the review will examine the use of a holistic approach that incorporates key stakeholders.
