Problem: In women, adhering to an overall healthy lifestyle is associated with a substantially reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, and mortality. Whether such a healthy lifestyle in women exerts health effects among offspring, possibly through modulating the living environment and lifestyle of children, deserves examination. This study examined the association between an overall maternal healthy lifestyle (characterized by a healthy body mass index, high quality diet, regular exercise, no smoking, and light to moderate alcohol intake and the risk of developing obesity in offspring.
