Leadership and Governance:

Write an essay to discuss the roles of leadership that are relevant to corporate greening in ensuring corporate sustainability.

Your essay must be informed by the extant literature on leadership and governance, particularly the literature related to corporate greening, corporate sustainability, and relevant leadership theories (e.g., environmental leadership, ethical leadership, green leadership, and/or other theories you think may be relevant to construct your essay).

The essay must discuss how important this topic is in the field of leadership and governance, along with a rationale for this focus. It should also clearly discuss how corporate greening is important in ensuring corporate sustainability and how leadership can facilitate this process. You are suggested to analyse as much information from the literature as possible to make your own case. As long as you follow CQU’s guide

and address all marking criteria (see the last page of this document), you can feel free to use your imagination, creativity, and innovation to organisation the content for your essay.

Your essay should be a properly constructed academic essay. It should contain an effective introduction, body, and conclusion. The introduction should introduce the essay and include your argument. The body should present the evidence you have collected to support your arguments, and the conclusion should restate your argument, summarise the evidence and make a conclusion regarding your argument. You are required to support your argument with appropriate theoretical discussion and references.

The essay should contain a coherent, but necessarily restricted review of the academic literature on the leadership and governance topics in question. Heading, subheadings, abstract, tables, and figures are NOT allowed. A reference list is compulsory.

This assessment item involves researching your assigned topic to enhance your understanding of leadership and governance concepts and utilisation of academic literature. AVOID using only textbooks, however, the prescribed textbook for the course should be cited in regard to broad leadership and governance principles. You will be expected to present information and evidence from, and cite, at LEAST twelve (12) relevant peer-reviewed, academic journal articles (twelve relevant and well applied academic articles will gain a pass mark for this criterion). Refer to your recommended readings for examples of academic journals. While you can cite these you must find twelve (12) journal articles not listed in the course materials. Your citations will show the breadth and depth of the literature used to answer the questions. Your marker is interested in the analysis that you have developed from YOUR review of the literature and how well you use the literature to respond to the topic.
