Transforming Health Care through Nursing Leadership
Nurses are the engines of the entire healthcare system and should always be ready to offer quality care to all patients. The recommendations provided in the report include focusing on critical intersections among the healthcare needs of patients across the lifespan and readiness of the nursing workforce (Campaign for Action, 2013). Therefore, my rating for these recommendations on a scale of 1-10 is 8. According to the first recommendation, nurses should always be prepared for the different health needs of patients across their lifespans. The importance of this recommendation is guiding nurses to develop patient-centered approaches to understand their needs and address them accordingly. Focusing on patients' health throughout their lifespan ensure nurses are well-skilled for any medical care problem. According to the second recommendation, patients' health needs should be intersected across the lifespan. The proposal benefits the nursing profession as it helps them offer quality care to all patients regardless of their social or racial backgrounds.
As a nurse, the recommendations mean I must be prepared to work in different settings and places and with patients from diverse social and racial backgrounds. The approach would help nurses meet the overall health needs of patients. My primary responsibility as a nurse is improving my knowledge and being prepared to attain all patients' exceptional clinical care needs irrespective of where they come from. Such a strategy would strengthen my understanding of patients' needs, ultimately leading to enhanced clinical outcomes. Accordingly, the recommendation means to me as a nurse that I should be updated on the recent nursing care advances to offer the best possible care for all patients. Notably, this implies engaging in continuous learning and updating knowledge. For instance, understanding recent healthcare technological advances like telehealth will improve the provision of medical services remotely.
