This speech is an informative speech written to enlighten a general audience about the dispute between hybrid and conventional cars. The speaker begins his introduction by stating that hybrid cars are growing in America and that the Obama administration supports them. The use of facts and concepts makes this a definition or descriptive type of informative speech. The speaker's purpose of the speech is to bring up the controversy for or against hybrid cars.

In his second paragraph, the speaker goes into detail about how many hybrid cars there are, when they began, and how they are possibly endangering regular cars. He uses topical patterning to organize his information into categories, the order he uses to state his main points does not matter since there is no story or steps. Also in his body, he provides his audience with solutions that hybrid cars have created such as, pollution, quietness, and safety.

Since this is an informative speech and not a persuasive one, he also provides negative outcomes that hybrid cars bring. This includes the slower speeds and smaller design. However, he uses that information to show that the complaints and hybrids have are minimal. He then begins his conclusion by showing how these "green cars" are a step forward in reducing air pollution. The speech ends with a simple statement that says that getting a hybrid car should be "your commitment to environmental protection an act of your own good will." I really liked the way he ended his speech because he left that in the audience's mind and left them thinking about the whole purpose of hybrid cars and what the right choice really is.
