There are many ways to define engagement. From the student's perspective, there is engagement with the professor, peers, and the institution. If a student does not feel connected to two of these aspects, research suggest that the student will leave the institution. Engagement is often linked to retention particularly for students considered at risk -- first generation college students or historically under served populations. What does engagement mean to you?
