While the major airlines are insulated from this pilot shortage for the next several years, the other aviation industries including defense department contractors, regional airlines, and the military including the United States Air Force, and the United States Navy will be more likely to be impacted because the major airlines are recruiting senior qualified pilots from these other aviation industries. The other aviation industries will have to compete for the shrinking pool of qualified Part 121 pilots.
