The goal is to determine the daily schedule to maximize

Operations Research

A furniture company manufactures desks and chairs. The sawing department cuts the lumber for both products and the cut lumber is then sent to separate assembly departments. Assembled items are then sent to the painting department for finishing. The daily capacity of the sawing department is 200 chairs or 80 desks. The chair department can produce up to 100 chairs daily and the desk department up to 60 desks daily. The paint department has a daily capacity of either 150 chairs or 100 desks. The profit per chair is $30 and per desk is $90.

The goal is to determine the daily schedule to maximize profit.

a) Determine decision variables and state the objective function and the constraints. State the reasoning behind it.

b) Draw the feasible region and find the cornerpoint with a feasible optimal solution.

c) Write the problem from part (a) in a canonical form introducing slack and artificial variables if needed.
