Examine “The Consumer Decision Making Process” for two purchase experiences (one high involvement, and one low involvement purchase) you had in the past. You can also choose your own examples as long as one represents a “high involvement” (e.g.., an automobile) and the other a “low involvement” (e.g., soda) purchase situation.

Be as specific as you can. Discuss the high involvement purchase first, then the low involvement one. Provide details for each stage and each factor.

1. Examine each of the relevant stages of the consumer decision making process, and detail your experiences in each relevant stage. Were these two purchase experiences were different in terms of the buying decision process?

2. Which factors (cultural, social, personal, psychological, situational – be specific about the type of factors in each category) influenced your buying behavior and how?

3. Did you experience any cognitive dissonance in each experience? Explain why or why not?

4. What could the manufacturer and seller have done different to make your experience better?
