The business analysis model is a great tool that allows managers and other stakeholders to develop their business intelligence programs. In this assignment, you will develop an information strategy for a radio station.
Step 1(DELIVERABLE 1)
Your job is to read the Chapter 1 section "Case Study: How to Make an Information Strategy for a Radio Station," and complete the following requirements.
- Design a dashboard for the KPIs discussed using Excel.
- Write a brief description of how each one ties into the radio station's goals and objectives.
- Use hypothetical values to illustrate your work.
- Write an interpretation of the results as if you were the business analyst responsible for their development. The interpretation should be appropriate for reading by a senior-level executive of the radio station.
Step 2 (DELIVERABLE 2)
At this point, you should have a solid understanding of the BA model. Your goal now is to write a one-page (minimum) paper using 12-point font, doublespacing, and Times New Roman in order to describe what you learned in this activity. Answer the following questions.
- What are the advantages of using the BA model?
- What are the disadvantages of using the BA model?
- What did you learn from this exercise, and how is it important to businesses?
Step 3 Essay Questions (DELIVERABLE 3)
Answer the following essay questions in your own words.
1. Describe the role a business analyst has in the BIA model.
2. Why is it important that the KPIs are closely linked to the business objectives?
3. In today's environment, what modifications, if any, would you have to make to the BIA model for small businesses (less than 100 employees)?
4. Describe the role a data warehouse performs in the BIA model and what the ETL function does.
5. Discuss the pros and cons of a business analyst being located in the following areas: in IT, in a line department (e.g., marketing), in finance or accounting, or in a staff role.
