If social and cultural norms differentially affect the perception of personality traits, a question can be cast: Why was the degree of faking in Likert-scale format Extraversion scores from South Korea not as small as that found in the forced-choice format? Although Likert-scale Extraversion scores still showed the smallest degree of faking, the magnitude of faking represented by the dwithin (0.49) was three times larger than that from the forced-choice format scores (0.17).
